How to Import Google Group Members

Google Groups is Google's answer to the old-style email list and incoporates much of Usenet too; email sent to a group's address can be instantly redistributed to everybody in the group. In addition, people can check postings directly on the group's Web page, or opt to receive digests of email traffic. Using the Direct Add Members feature makes it fairly straightforward to import large numbers of members into your business's group.

• Depending on the access rights you have set up for your Google Group, your new members may be active immediately, or they may need to respond to the welcoming email sent to them before they become active members.

• Be careful not to export any other data than the email addresses of your members; any additional data will cause errors in the import process.
• It is best to use this process only to add members you already know well, or to transfer the member list from an existing email list. Use of the Direct Add Members feature to send unwanted email can lead to the deactivation of your Google account.
